Math Test Registration and Information

The First Step to Success in ECS is Mathematics!

Save TIME and MONEY by reducing your path to an engineering or computer science degree by up to 2 semesters. Get ahead of your college career by taking the ALEKS PPL diagnostic exam before the ECS Expo! You will know your math placement the same day.

If you do not get the score necessary for placement into your desired class, the Preparation and Learning Module is available for review. The proctored Placement Assessment may be repeated three times (for a total of four attempts).

How to take an ALEKS Placement Assessment

    • Step One:

Create an ALEKS PPL account through the single-sign on link:
The following Class Code will be required: NCFUQ-9NENU
To create an ALEKS PPL sign-in, you must have an active SacLink account.

Note: Students with a visual impairment please contact the Math Department at (916) 278-6534 to get assistance with creating an account that is accessible.

    • Step Two:

Complete the un-proctored placement exam online. The score will be available immediately. An un-proctored assessment score is not used for course placement.

Note: At least 48 hours must pass between the un-proctored and proctored assessments.

    • Step Three:

After completion of the initial un-proctored assessment, ALEKS PPL will suggest a Preparation and Learning Module for you to complete. You must complete a minimum of 3 hours of work in the Preparation and Learning Module before you will be allowed to take the proctored assessment.

You are strongly encouraged to spend quality time with the modules. Our data shows a strong correlation between performance in the modules and gains in the ALEKS PPL score.
