2009 ECS Dean Award

Timothy Bender is graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Bender is an active member in the Association for Computing Machinery, and is a member of the Engineering Joint Council and the Dean's Council. He has been an active participant and promoter of peer tutoring, and a faithful volunteer for such college and department activities as Preview Day, Engineering Expo and ECS Open House. Tim has been a team leader for 2 years straight in the ACM Programming Contest going to Stanford for the Regional Contest. Bender also under the Guidance of Dr. Scott Gordon worked on a research project in Neural Networks entitled, "Partitioning Strategies for Modular Neural Networks", which has been accepted to be published at the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks. Bender's academic, extracurricular achievements have earned him a job at Northrop Grumman and this award.
