The Department of Electrical
& Electronic Engineering seeks applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor position to begin in January 2010. Specific
area of interest is Power Systems.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
BS in EE and
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering specializing in power systems are required.
Doctoral candidates in the final stage of their degree will be considered,
but must complete the Ph.D. within one semester of appointment date,
by August, 2010. Applicant must
have expertise in Power Engineering.
Special Knowledge and
Abilities:
A strong background is required in distribution grid planning, protection, distributed generation (DG) interconnections, renewable resources integration including machine based and inverter based generating units, energy storage, and related areas. The candidate must have proficiency and substantive experience with implementation of national standards.
Applicants must have a
commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate
levels, the ability to relate theory to practice, and the ability to
work with a diverse student population. Evidence of scholarly
potential, including but not limited to journal publications and conference
presentations, and the potential to obtain external funds for laboratory
development, teaching or research are required. Qualified candidates
must demonstrate potential for outstanding teaching (undergraduate and
graduate), and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills,
e.g., by way of items such as seminars given, courses/laboratories taught,
course syllabi, course handouts, laboratory experiment syllabi, student
evaluations and written assessments of potential. Ability and willingness
to teach a wide variety of Electrical Engineering undergraduate and
graduate courses and electives is required.
Desirable Experience
Industry
and/or practical electrical engineering experience is highly desirable
along with an ability to collaborate effectively with other faculty.
Responsibilities
Support,
teach, and develop, as necessary, a strong sequence of undergraduate
and graduate courses and laboratories in Power Engineering area.
Will engage in related applied research and scholarly activities by
publishing in peer reviewed conference or journal publications. Will
obtain sponsored funding to support undergraduate/graduate laboratory
development, teaching or research. Supervise graduate student
research and projects. Perform instructionally related duties
such as curriculum development, program outcomes assessment and student
advising. Take an active role on departmental, school and university
committees and be engaged in professional activities.
Appointment
Academic
year probationary (tenure-track) appointment at the rank of Assistant
Professor.
Salary Range
Salary
is commensurate with academic preparation, record of research and peer-reviewed
publications, and professional experience. Moving expenses and a reduced
teaching load for the first two years may be available.
General Information
California State University, Sacramento is located in the city of Sacramento,
in the heart of a high-tech area. Sacramento is the state capital

such as PG&E, Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), Agilent,

graduates.
The
Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering has strong ties
with industry and an active Industry Liaison Council that provides feedback
on the educational objectives of our programs and assists in the assessment
and evaluation of student learning outcomes. Faculty members have
the opportunity to perform research and consult with a wide variety
of industries in the area. CSUS is situated midway (approximately 2
driving hours either direction) between the Lake Tahoe recreation area
and San Francisco. The Sacramento area offers affordable housing
and good to excellent schools.
The
E&EE Department is part of the College of Engineering and Computer
Science. The department currently has 15 full-time faculty, 400 undergraduate
students and 200 graduate students. The undergraduate program
is accredited by EAC of ABET. We view the faculty as a team, assembled
to pursue a set of defined educational goals for the Department. Ongoing
faculty professional development is vital to the Department's success.
