      University and Community Service

Interaction between students and the community are enhanced by enrollment in cooperative education courses and participation in student organizations such as the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Society of Hispanic Engineers and Computer Scientists, Society of Black Engineers and Computer Scientists and Tau Beta Pi. These activities provide students with opportunities to enhance their professionalism, expand their leadership and communication skills, clarify their career goals, and develop professional awareness.

The discipline of Engineering, through its methodology and substantive and theoretical knowledge, provides faculty and students with the expertise to particpate as consultants, researchers and volunteers in a variety of community- and campus-based organizations.
