Certificate Program in Web Development

In light of rapidly changing Web technologies, the Department of Computer Science at Sacramento State is offering a newly updated Web Development Certificate program.

The updated program provides intensive, hands-on training, and covers the full cycle of the Web development process using the latest Web technologies.  Topics such as Blogs and Wikis, E-Commerce and content management systems are covered. Standards-based and open-source technologies, such as PHP, AJAX, .NET, and J2EE are emphasized in the updated program.

The certificate is designed for Sac State students of all majors who want to add "webmaster" skills to their resume.  For non-majors the program assumes no previous computer experience and incorporates user-friendly software to design effective web pages and manage current web server software.  Students from various backgrounds are welcome!  Non-Sac State students (through the Sac State College of Continuing Education) are also welcome on a space-available basis.

Computer Science majors interested in enhancing their degrees need only take CSC 121 and CSC 123 in addition to major-required courses CSC 60, CSC 130, CSC 134, CSC 139, and CSC 139.  Prerequisites for majors taking CSC 121 are CSC 60 and CSC 130; prerequisites for majors taking CSC 123 are CSC 60 and CSC 134 (CSC 138 and CSC 139 are recommended as prerequisites and required for the final certificate).

The certificate is available to fully-classified graduate students in both the Computer Science and Software Engineering master's degree programs upon completionof CSC 121 and 123.

If you are interested in the program, please complete the sign-up form which will be sent to the Web Development Certificate Program Coordinator.  Upon completion of the program, students will receive a certificate and the information will be recorded on their academic records.

As a further benefit , you will have the option of being added to an email distribution list so that you will get updates on course offerings and program changes. We expect continuous changes in courses and course content so that the program will remain current.
