American River College is a State funded two-year community college, located just 15 miles from California State University Sacramento is part of the Los Rios Community College District, which also includes Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College, and Sacramento City College.
ARC opened its doors as California’s 61st public junior college in 1955. Its history, however, dates back to February 28, 1942, when Grant Union Junior College was established in Del Paso Heights to train civilian personnel for national service during World War II. Today, American River College is among the 10 largest community colleges in the state and is looked upon as a leader in innovative programs and services. It transfers more students to UC Davis and CSU Sacramento than any other community college.
Five decades after its founding, American River College continues its leadership role among the Sacramento area’s institutions of higher education.

Cosumnes River College is located just 20 minutes away at the south end of Scaramento and opened September 14, 1970.There are more than 11,000 students enrolled at Cosumnes River College. The college offers a broad option of more than 60 occupational degree programs, and a comprehensive curriculum of transfer courses.
Cosumnes River College has emerged with very much its own identity, small enough to offer personalized attention, yet large enough to offer a comprehensive postsecondary education to the community it serves.

Sacramento City College is home to the Business Division and its mission is to provide a quality education to our students. Students will be prepared to transfer into a Bachelor's Degree program, enter directly into business or industry with an Associate Degree or Career Certificate, or acquire skills that they can apply to their careers or personal lives.The Division is comprised of two departments: The Business Department offers majors and courses in traditional business disciplines, including accounting, business office technology, economics, management, marketing, and real estate. The Computer Information Science Department offers degrees and certificates in computer technology, programming, computer applications, database, web publishing, security and networking.

Sierra College main campus in Rocklin, California, is located in the foothills of the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains, one half-hour from the State Capitol and 100 miles east of San Francisco. In addition to the 300 acre Rocklin campus, the District has a 115 acre Nevada County Campus in Grass Valley, a campus center in Truckee and a campus center in Roseville. The Sierra Community College District, a district that covers over 3,200 square miles – an area larger than the state of Delaware – serves Placer, Nevada and parts of El Dorado and Sacramento counties.The emphasis at Sierra College is on student learning and high quality teaching. Approximately 125 degree and certificate programs are offered in a wide variety of configurations taught by 950 full and part-time faculty members. Faculty typically has the minimum of a Master’s degree in their fields and enhance their teaching with research, authorship and industry expertise.
Sierra College is in the top 1% of United States community colleges in awarding Associate Degrees – and 1st in California.
Quality instruction contributes to Sierra College being ranked first in Northern California in transfers to the University of California and California State University systems.

Note students who have completed a Certificate in Information Systems Security or an AA Degree with emphasis on Information Assurance and Security at a community college will have CSc 114 course in the Minor waived.
