Plan Grid Letter To Sac State's Mikael Anderson

Friends and Family,

After 40 years of being a small program under the department of civil engineering,we have successfully been able to make Construction Management (CM) its own's a BIG freak'in deal....and I was elected by my colleagues to serve as the inaugural department chair.  Our university president, provost, dean, and the CSU chancellor's office have stood behind us in promoting CM to departmental status.  Our construction industry supporters have also raised over $1 million in the past 8 years towards scholarships, student competitions, awards ceremonies, grants, and various events to enhance the experience for the Sac State CM students, all of which played a large role in this success.

Here's the official article, including a photo I took at an equipment dealer in North Sacto during a field trip last week.  The students were able to test ride (on their own) a Dozer, Excavator, Compactor, Loader, Off Road Dump Truck, and a Material Hauler....all part of a course I teach on estimating and scheduling heavy equipment operations.

I'm pretty excited, as this has been in the works for 8 years, which is why I am sharing it with all of you.
