Introduction
The College of Engineering and Computer Science consists of four academic
departments. The College offers seven baccalaureate degrees: Civil
Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and
Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management,
and Mechanical Engineering Technology. Design is emphasized throughout
the curricula and oral and written communication skills are assessed in
assignments. Programs are applied providing substantial laboratory
experience for students. Laboratories are current, and the software
reflects state-of-the-practice. All programs require a culminating
experience in the form of a senior design or senior project that provide
students experience working on real world problems as a member of a
project team. The College offers five master of science degrees: Civil
Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, and Software Engineering. A master of science
degree program in Computer Engineering has been proposed.
In addition to the academic programs, the College provides support through
the offices of Cooperative Education and Internships, Career Planning, and
the MESA Engineering Program. Courses and seminars are offered that
assist students in: (1) developing effective study skills and time
management, (2) obtaining major-appropriate experience prior to graduation
in the form of internships and cooperative education, (3) acquiring
current and timely career information and labor market trends, and (4)
obtaining professional level employment upon graduation. Freshmen and
sophomore students have found support and assistance in lower division
courses at our tutoring center.
The well-qualified faculty in the College are committed to providing
quality education. They have a strong commitment to students' academic
success through careful advising and monitoring of students' academic
progress.
